Update on the building of Miramar Christian Church:After pouring floors, erecting walls, hanging doors, installing windows, painting and attending to all the other details that go with constructing a new building, the Miramar Christian Church, organized into five work teams, moved into their new building on Sunday, November 27, 2005! "What an exciting, stretching time this is for us as a church," Derek says. They praise God for His faithfulness and provision and ask us to pray that the church will continue to minister to one another as a congregation through all the changes.
Exchange Student - Pray for Daniel Diaz, one of our college students, who will spend two months as an ESL aide living with a Bethany Baptist Church family in Portland, OR, to help clarify his calling, learn more English, gain a broader worldview and grow spiritually. Pray for the host family and that families from our congregation may host North American exchange students in the future.
Miramar Christian Church - Our roles here is less that of leader and increasingly that of advisor and friend. Pray with us as we encourage Pastor Martin and our leaders as they:
- Minister to people involved in domestic violence and drugs
- Host an Easter Week Children’s Bible School April 17-21, led by the pastor’s wife, Hortencia Sotelo.
- Seek to register the Miramar Christian Church with the federal government
New Transition
As the transition to a new pastor at Miramar Christian Church reaches completion, a new transition begins for our family. After the school year ends, we will pack up our belongings and move to Pasadena, CA to begin our home assignment. We will participate in the NAB Triennial Conference in Estes Park, CO and then visit many of our supporting churches as Derek studies at Fuller. After home assignment we will probably redeploy in ministry in the US. Please pray for God’s leading for our next ministry.
Praising God...and Thanking You - As you’d imagine, this is a nostalgic time for us. Last week we attended the nine year anniversary service of Adonai Baptist Church and were overjoyed to see Pastor Job Soto and a vibrant congregation blessed by our faithful God. We began working with the Adonai church when Noah was two months old; now he is in the third grade and has two brothers! From Adonai, God called us to plant the first evangelical church in the Miramar area. Today that church supports its own pastor, engages in many ministries and has its own land and building, in part thanks to your faithful praying, giving and coming to serve alongside us. We praise God for his faithfulness and thank you for your partnership in ministry.
