Background:
In 1981, Rod began to serve at Mbingo Baptist Hospital, working mainly with leprosy patients.  In 1983, he was transferred to Banso Baptist Hospital.

During a trip to Europe with her younger brother, God worked in April's life.  She recalls, "There were no crashing cymbals or bright lights of revelation.  Rather, a quiet, simple message from God and a suggestion from my brother to read my Bible more.  It suddenly became clear: God's way is the only way."

Concerning missions, April says, "I felt God's soft prompting to do mission work for Him.  The main reason I decided to go to Japan as a short-term missionary was obedience."

Rod and April were married in 1986, and they've been serving in Cameroon together since 1987.

The Zimmermans write in a recent prayer letter: Several new national doctors joined our hospital staff and others have been transferred to other places. We praise God that He is really at work—pray that we would always emphasize sharing the love of Christ with each patient, as well as giving medical care.

Rod finds much gratitude in patients for the time spent in praying for them. He also supervises junior doctors in several of the wards.
